Job Type:StaffJob Description:Coordinates the activities of the circulation department to ensure that students, faculty, and staff receive exemplary service in finding and using library resources. Provides technical support as it relates to library catalogs, databases, and indexes, and provides library services to students, faculty, and staff.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensures library customers are helped promptly and courteously
  • Promotes a courteous environment, informed access, and independent learning
  • Oversee circulation desk, including the check-out of library materials, re-shelving materials, and answering questions about policies and procedures
  • Manage the library circulation software, including loan rules, due dates, closed dates, patron files, overdue and billed notices, etc.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of circulation policies and procedures
  • Resolve issues with patrons, including overdue and lost materials
  • Oversee MOBIUS shipments
  • Assist with inter-library loan
  • Conduct inventory of print collection on a regular basis
  • Monitor and troubleshoot library computers, printers, and scanners
  • Collect and maintain records of circulation statistics
  • Purchase supplies and equipment for the library, with approval from the Library Director
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including filling in to cover other staff duties during absences
  • Represent the department and the university favorably per established Core Values and expectations
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the organization
  • Other administrative tasks (i.e., filing, preparing documentation)
  • Participate in developing department goals and objectives
  • Actively participate in library team and university meeting
  • Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree required.
  • One year library experience working in an automated library customer service environment preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of managing and navigating databases
  • Knowledge of various computer applications, such as Digital Commons, FOLIO, OCLC, etc
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, be detail-oriented, and a self-starter
  • Exercise good judgment and discretion at all times
  • Ability to be flexible, and able to shift priorities as demands change
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to interact effectively and work efficiently with people at all levels in an organization
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
