Library Clerk II PTLocation: LibrariesWork Status: Part Time THIS POSITION WILL CLOSE ON 12/12/2024. SALARY: 15.25 - 19.06 Hourly USDJOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, performs various data entry tasks related to library collection maintenance, answers basic patron inquires; and repairs damaged books and audiovisual materials.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Perform various data entry tasks relating to collection maintenance, such as discharge of returned materials, item record maintenance related to new items and withdrawn items, and entry of item records for new paperbacks. Perform basic stacks maintenance tasks, including but not limited to shelving of returned and new items; searches for lost, missing or overdue items; retrieval and processing of hold requests, and verifying the accuracy of shelving. Answer basic patron queries relating to the status of items and directing requests for reference/research information to customer service staff.OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS Operate city vehicles in the completion of scheduled routes and special deliveries throughout the library system as well as neighboring cities as needed. Repair damaged books and audiovisual material. Assist with Curbside preparation and delivery of library materials. Support and interact with volunteers.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Knowledge of how library materials and information sources are organized. Knowledge of Dewey Decimal System classification and alpha-numeric filing system. Skill in utilizing Windows based software. Ability to adapt to changes and upgrades in computer software. Skill in working with others in a team approach and independently. Skill in reviewing information with careful attention to detail. Skill in listening well, establishing rapport with a diverse range of library users quickly and easily, and in using verbal and non-verbal communication effectively. Ability to work with a varied schedule. Ability to easily adjust to fluctuating work levels and move within the library system. Ability to exercise discretion with patron records. Ability to receive instructions and feedback verbally and in writing. Ability to easily adapt to newly prioritized assignments for each day. Ability to lift or exert forces up to 50 lbs. on a repetitive basis; and push/pull up to 50lbs. for 25 feet. Ability to maneuver up to 300 lbs. on a consistent basis using a four-wheel dolly. Ability to push load book cart weighing up to 300 lbs.Qualifying Education and Experience High School Diploma and/or General Education Diploma (GED). Must possess a valid Texas driver license.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSPreferred Education and Experience Six (6) months of experience in a bookstore or library environment.Employment Screenings Required Criminal Background Check Drug & Alcohol Testing Human Performance Evaluation Motor Vehicle Review Physical Examination
