Starting Hourly Rate: $16.59(26 Hours/Week)MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK SATURDAYS AND ONE EVENING PER WEEK EXAMPLES OF WORK TO BE PERFORMED:
- Check in and shelve library materials, read and straighten shelves and process new materials prior to shelving.
- Assist patrons locating information in books, periodicals, and online.
- Assist patrons with use of library computers, including Windows Office programs, the Internet and use of the circulation system and catalog.
- Issue library cards to patrons.
- Take in fees at the service desk, answer questions and assist with patrons with their accounts.
- Generally assist patrons with use of the library and be available to assist full-time staff with various tasks and projects as needed.
- Perform other tasks as needed.

- Ability to support the mission of the public library with regard to intellectual freedom and confidentiality of patron records.
- Familiarity with a computer work environment, including Windows, Word, Excel, Power Point.
- Familiarity with Polaris automated circulation and catalog systems and/or ability to learn them.
- Abilities to alphabetize and to understand and learn Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC).
- Good people skills, ability to work with patrons and coworkers, ability and willingness to accept supervision and training.
- Ability to stoop and to lift 30 pounds.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school graduation or equivalent

- College courses in related field

The physical requirements of this position

- The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
