Examples of Duties ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
- Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
- Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
- Assists in the preparation and execution of the departmental budget and the maintenance of library accounts, records, payrolls and bill payments, subject to central financial requirements.
- Ensures all aspects of library services are being provided efficiently including the physical facilities to ensure that the libraries provide staff and customers a safe, secure and welcoming environment.

- Manages the daily operations implementing county and library policies and procedures.
- Prepares and monitors facility related budgets and contracts for normal maintenance or improvements to facilities.
- Meets with civic, community and other interested groups to explain library services.
- Outlines policies, rules and regulations and submits reports on library activities.
- Stimulates and guides public relations activities and staff planning for service programs of the library.
- Manage the systemwide facility operations for library, applying county/library policies and procedures.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Typical Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires Master of Library Science or Library and Information Science (MLIS).
- Over four years and up to and including eight years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
