To accomplish these tasks, the Library Media Clerk must work closely with the students, staff, and administration of USD 434.Responsible to: School AdministrationDuty Year: School Year + 2 extra duty days (one before and one after the student school calendar)Payment rate: According to Classified Salary Schedule.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalentHealth and Inoculation Certificate on file in the Central Office (after employment offer is made)Communication skills to work effectively with staff, students, and parentsDesire to continue career improvementEssential Functions:Assist in helping students and teachers make the best use of the books, materials, and services of the media centerAbility to work without direct supervisionProvide/manage literature experiences for up to 25 students at a time in grades 6-8Ensure that all activities conform to district guidelinesCommunicate effectively with members of the school staffReact to change productively and handle other tasks as assignedBecome knowledgeable about operating technology equipmentMaintain confidentiality at all timesSupport the philosophy and mission of USD 434Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:Prolonged sitting or standingOccasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials, not to exceed 25 lbs without assistanceOccasional stooping, bending, and reachingMay work in an environment with varied activities for a diverse student populationEssential Library Functions:Maintain assigned records involved in effective circulation of all media center materials and AV and technology equipment, including systematic procedures concerning overdue materialsShelve incoming materialsAssist students in acquiring library skillsResponsible for general office work such as composing requisitions, reports, forms, inventories, letters, teaching materials, and file maintenanceDuplicate, assemble, distribute materials, and other duties as assigned by school administrationPlan, coordinate, and carry out two book fairs; one each semesterActively supervise hallway traffic near the media centerSupervise students in the media centerAssist in the annual inventory of media centerMaintain supply inventoryDesign and create bulletin boards and other media center displaysOperate equipment as requested by school administratorsAssist students and teachers in locating and checking out requested informationGeneral ResponsibilitiesFollow USD 434 district policies, the school handbook, and the staff handbookOther duties as assigned by school administrators#J-18808-Ljbffr
