Library Page The Town of Concord is seeking a part-timeLibrary Page to sort and re-shelve returned library materials, straightenshelves and keep them in proper sequence. Additional duties may includeprocuring books from the stacks for patrons of the library, performing shelfreading and inventory, assisting with program support as needed, and performingother related duties as assigned. Must be reliable, have excellentconcentration and attention to detail, be able to accurately arrange items byalphabetical and/or numerical order, work well independently, and be able tointeract with the public and co-workers in a helpful and professional manner.Work schedule is 8.5 hours per week. Full pay range: $15.45 - $17.75/hour, startingpay based on qualifications and typically within the first half of the range.Applications must be received by October 4, 2024. Department: Concord Public Library Salary Grade: LAT-1 Reports To: Circulation Supervisor and/or Branch Librarians FLSA Status: Non-Exempt AFSCME, Non-Supervisory Unit Appointed By: Town Manager Date: August 2024 GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Circulation Supervisor, assists patrons in locating and obtaining materials within the library or at other libraries in the library network; explains use of reference services and equipment; assists patrons by researching and answering their questions or directing them to appropriate locations or staff.Responsible for maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and control. Performs varied and responsible duties requiring a thorough knowledge of departmental operations and the exercise of judgment and initiative in completing tasks, particularly in situations not clearly defined by precedent or established procedures. Incumbent is called upon to handle a significant amount of details, each varying from the other in substance and content, requiring incumbent to approach workload with flexibility. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: External and internal applicants, as well as position incumbents who are or become disabled as defined under the Americans With Disabilities Act, must be able to perform the essential job functions (as listed) either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined by management on a case-by-case basis. The Library Page's primary responsibility is to sort and re-shelve returned library materials, straighten shelves and keep them in proper sequence. Additional duties may include procuring books from the stacks for patrons of the library, providing simple directional information to patrons, performing shelf reading and inventory, assisting with program support as needed, and performing other related duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must be reliable, have excellent concentration and attention to detail, be able to swiftly and accurately arrange items by alphabetical and/or numerical order, work well independently, and be able to interact with the public and co-workers in a helpful and professional manner. Knowledge of library systems helpful. Some Pages may be assigned to work evening and weekend hours. WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS: External and internal applicants, as well as position incumbents who are or become disabled as defined under the Americans With Disabilities Act, must be able to perform the physical demands (as listed) either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined by management on a case-by-case basis. Normal office environment, not subject to extreme variations of temperature, noise, odors, etc. Most work is performed in a quiet work environment, but noise levels vary. Constant standing, lifting, stooping, reaching, walking, balancing, crouching, grasping, pulling, and crawling is required. Regularly pushes fully loaded book carts.
