Licensed Engineer - Unlimited Horsepower (Hopper Dredge)The Opportunity:We are seeking a Licensed Engineer - Unlimited Horsepower to be onboard our trailing suction hopper dredge fleet to be responsible to operate and maintain the ships propulsion machinery, dredging machinery and related systems; perform maintenance and repair support to the engine department and perform other duties as required by Chief Engineer, assisting with repairs, scheduled and preventative maintenance. This is a domestic project-based position, with immediate assignment to our hopper fleet in the United States. The typical work rotation for the Licensed Engineer is 4 weeks on duty, followed by 4 weeks off.About the Company:Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation is the largest provider of dredging services in the United States. The Company's commitment to the IIF culture promotes a work environment where employee safety is paramount.Responsibilities:* Follow all company safety and environmental protection policies and procedures* Assists in the overall maintenance and repair of shipboard equipment, including diesel engines, pumps, winches, hydraulic systems, refrigeration equipment, electrical equipment, compressors and machinery for pollution prevention defined in the MARPOL convention* Stand watch as engineer-in-charge assumes responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the engine room equipment* Assist in inventory of machinery, parts, and equipment on board the vessel* Advising Chief Engineer on ordering of spares and consumables* Follow the Reliability Assured Maintenance (RAM) program* Verify, and record the daily, weekly and monthly-required inspections in NS Enterprise* Maintain logs and ledgers regarding the overall performance of the dredge's equipment by monitoring various computer devices, meters, and gauges* Perform duties of the Chief Engineer as requested or in the event of an emergencyRequirements:* Must possess a valid USCG license for 3rd Assistant Engineer of unlimited horsepower or higher with no restrictions* Merchant Mariners Credentials (MMC)* Valid TWIC* Valid U.S. Passport Preferred* Analytical skills to troubleshoot, operate, and repair assigned ship equipment and to interpret technical manuals, blueprints, etc* Ability to diagnose, repair and maintain various engineering machinery* Ability to properly operationally test equipment after repairing same* Experienced in the use of hand and power tools* Experienced in the use of common machine shop equipment including drill press and lath* Knowledge of marine fuel systems and fueling operations* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail* Excellent communication skills* Possess basic welding skills using oxygen and acetylene* Ability to use Microsoft OfficeBenefits:* Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company contributes to benefit plans with the Seafarers International Union that are available to its members such as the Seafarers Health and Benefits Plan, Seafarers Pension Plan, Seafarers Vacation Plan, Seafarers Money Purchase Pension Plan as well as other fringe benefit plansGreat Lakes Dredge & Dock Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
