The Clinician provides comprehensive social services and activities that support and enhance the mental and
emotional health of agency clients, prospective clients, and members of the community; reports to the Director of
Clinical Services.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides counseling and psychotherapy services to individuals, families, and children, including intake
- assessments and diagnostic evaluation of clients.
- Possesses knowledge of DSM V diagnosis and trauma sensitive treatment modalities with an
- understanding of a variety of theoretical approaches, group process, and client advocacy.
- Possesses knowledge of the dynamics of family, domestic and sexual violence, as well as a willingness to
- work with individuals and/or families experiencing these issues.
- Must demonstrate an understanding of familial issues related to family violence, separation and divorce.
- Must possess strong Trauma Informed knowledge and skills.
- Must have a working knowledge of the dynamics of family violence and domestic violence, as well as a
- willingness to work with individuals and/or families experiencing these issues.
- Possesses knowledge of diagnosis and treatment with understanding of psychodynamics, group process,
- client advocacy, and information and referral sources.
- Assists clients by providing information and referrals to resources as needed.
- Provides on-site counseling services at JFS or satellite clinics in which Jewish Family Services operates.
- Records and maintains essential client records and statistical data in compliance with agency and State
- regulations and within required time frame.
- Collaborates and confers with agency personnel, volunteers, and professionals of other agencies.
- Confers with supervisor on regular basis and participates actively in supervisory process and in peer
- review process as a team member.
- Ability to work independently, including at off site location(s), organize workload and maintain required
- level of productivity as determined by supervisor.
- Maintains client confidentiality at all times.
- Participates in professional growth and in-service opportunities; attends seminars that expand
- professional knowledge; and shares information with colleagues.
- Markets self and represents JFS in the Jewish community and community at large.
- Responsible for maintaining active licensure in good standing pursuant to Wisconsin Administrative Code
- and WI Chapter DHS 35. This includes ensuring against any lapse in licensure, timely completion of
- necessary continuing education hours as required by the licensee's examining board, and ongoing
- compliance with Wisconsin caregiver background checks and misconduct reporting requirements.
General
- Must have a valid driver's license, access to reliable vehicle, and automobile insurance coverage throughout employment.
- Knowledge, understanding, and/or willingness to learn Jewish culture and traditions and those of the Agency population as necessary.
- Accept other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Candidates must successfully pass a criminal background check (Fingerprint ID check for VOCA clinicians) with the Wisconsin Department of Justice and a caregiver background check with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, the Department of Children and Families and the Department Safety and Professional Services.
- Candidates must pass a Dru Sjodin National Sex Offender and Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry screening.
Required:
- Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field
- Hold a valid Wisconsin License from the Wisconsin Social Work Examining Board (preferred), Wisconsin
- Marriage and Family Therapy, or Professional Counseling, or Social Work Examining Board (LCSW, LMFT,
- LPC).
- Licensee must be in good standing with the Licensing Board.
- Third-party billing eligibility is also required.
- Strong organizational, oral, and written communication, and interpersonal skills combined with ability to
- enter case notes efficiently and accurately.
- Familiar with operation of Microsoft Office, EHR, and email/phone communication systems and their use
- within HIPAA standards.
