This position is specifically designed for Practical Nurses that are currently enrolled in an LPN to RN Educational Bridging ProgramMed/Surg units availableFull Time or Part TimeThe Medical Surgical department of the WellSpan Waynesboro Hospital is responsible for delivering comprehensive medical and surgical care to inpatients and outpatients admitted to the following units of the hospital: 3 Center and 3 MainFull-Time (72 Hours Biweekly)Part-Time (48 Hours Biweekly)Shift: Night 7pm-7amEvery 3rd Weekend, 1 major, 1 minor and 1 split holidayEligible for Shift DifferentialUnder the supervision of a registered professional nurse, provides nursing care to patients at an advanced level of practice. Takes patient vital signs, assists with procedures/examinations, administers medications, assists patient with activities of daily living (bathing, feeding, etc.) and instructs patients and their families in appropriate care.Duties and Responsibilities Essential Accountabilities:Under appropriate supervision, administers and controls narcotics and medications.Provides general nursing care and personal care assistance to patients, including bathing, dressing, eating, changing bed linens and bed pans and positioning.Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with hospital standards.Helps patients get into and out of chairs, lifts patients, raises patients in beds, and turns the patients.Checks patient's vital signs.Charts results of various tests.Monitors medical condition of patients and reports changes to appropriate personnel.Prepares patients for scheduled procedures to assist in patient assessment.Assists physicians with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care.Arranges for patients' ordered diagnostic and therapeutic services.Provides health care instruction/education to patient and family members.Ensures accurate maintenance of patients' medical records and that patient records are treated as confidential information.Performs a variety of nursing administrative duties.Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment.WellSpan Health's vision is to reimagine healthcare through the delivery of comprehensive, equitable health and wellness solutions throughout our continuum of care.
