Licensed Practical Nurse, Lead - Stony Brook Childrens Service, UFPC

Location: Lake Grove, NY

Schedule: Full Time

Days/Hours: 7:30am-8:00pm (Variable) 2 evening per week and 2 Saturdays per month required

Pay: $31.48 - $39.31

Responsibilities:

SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the lead Physician, the Lead LPN will provide clinical support and oversight of clinical staff and, in collaboration with the Lead Physician and Ambulatory Office Manager, ensure efficient and optimal patient care is delivered to the patients in the practice.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure standards of clinical practice and infection control are maintained.
  • Oversee that all clinical standards and administrative policies are practiced and upheld by support staff.
  • Certify clinical support staff annually in waive testing.
  • Collaborate with Ambulatory Office Manager to ensure staff attend orientation, annual recertification and yearly physicals.
  • Oversee that daily quality controls are performed.
  • Develop and oversee a cleaning and stocking assignment and schedule for support staff.
  • Ensure an adequate level of medical supplies.
  • Maintain the medication room, by checking for expired items and correct par level of medications. Maintain refrigerator temp log and daily O2 check.
  • Ensure that lab logs are maintained.
  • Oversight of clinical staff in conjunction with Ambulatory Office Manager:
    • Assess and evaluate staff performance and complete annual assessment, performance programs and competencies
    • Assign staff to work with providers and address staffing shortfalls in conjunction with other leads
    • Address provider concerns with regard to clinical staff and provide counseling/disciplinary action as required
    • Monitor staff time and approve time off requests ensuring adequate staffing; review biweekly time and attendance forms for accuracy.
  • Maintain efficiency of clinical operations:
    • Make recommendations to physician and operations lead to improve efficiency and physician productivity within the practice.
    • Attend regular leadership meetings and participate in decision making related to the clinical practice as a whole.
    • Work closely with other clinical leads and Ambulatory Office Manager to ensure consistency in processes and procedures across practice locations.
  • Provide Clinical support:
    • Perform injections as ordered.
    • Work with providers when assigned.
    • Provide patient and family teaching as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid New York State License as LPN.
  • Four (4) years of full time medically related experience in patient care required with a demonstrated working knowledge of many procedures under a variety of work conditions, including strict deadlines or emergencies.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with patients, staff and medical providers. The employee must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. This position is active and requires the employee to constantly move about in the office to assist patients, staff and medical providers. Any additional physical demands will be outlined and provided by management.
