Clinics from Southampton to NYC. Practice manages a freestanding outpatient 7-day per week Cancer Center with extensive chemotherapy administration, Radiation Oncology, Pharmacy and Research department.In this role you will:
- Update and maintain all electronic patient records and assist in transitioning hard copy records to digital format
- Manage Physician inbox and prioritize tasks assigned via ONCO EMR
- Perform office callbacks to patients, physicians, and other health care facilities
- Assist in maintaining the medical inventory and placing orders for new materials as needed
- Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments
- Record patient information such as vital signs, weight and changes in medical history prior to each appointment
- Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient s chart and open wallboards for patient to self complete any outstanding documents needed
- Record patient interview, history, and chief complaint
- Provide patient education with regards to medications, management of diseased, home treatments and special diets
- Prepare patients for examinations, performs routine screening tests, and assists physicians with exams
- Perform basic lab tests such as phlebotomy, collection of other lab specimens, and EKGs
- Prepare and administer injections and documents medication under a physician s order and follow the five (5) medication rights and reduce the potential for medical error
We require:
- Current NYS LPN license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Previous experience in a lead role or demonstrated potential to act in a lead capacity
- Previous outpatient experience preferred
- Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals
- Proficiency in ONCOemr
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending and reaching
- Frequent exposure to chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, and patient bodily fluids
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Travel to any of the NYCBS locations
