Correctional LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse)
Job Summary: The Correctional LPN provides comprehensive nursing care to inmates within a correctional facility, ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare services in a secure environment. The LPN collaborates with healthcare professionals to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, while maintaining safety and security protocols.
Correctional LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Deliver direct nursing care to inmates, including administering medications, performing treatments, and assisting with medical procedures.
- Assessment: Conduct initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of inmates health status, documenting findings accurately.
- Medication Management: Administer medications orally, parenterally, and topically as prescribed, while monitoring for side effects and ensuring adherence to treatment plans.
- Health Education: Provide health education and counseling to inmates regarding medications, chronic diseases, and preventive care.
- Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, and mental health professionals, to coordinate care and address health needs.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in compliance with facility policies and regulations, including electronic medical records (EMR).
- Emergency Response: Participate in emergency response activities, including first aid and CPR, and assist in crisis situations as needed.
- Policy Compliance: Adhere to facility policies, safety protocols, and legal regulations to ensure the security and well-being of both inmates and staff.
Correctional LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) Qualifications:
- Current LPN license in the state of practice.
- Previous nursing experience, preferably in a correctional or secure healthcare setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a diverse environment.
- Knowledge of medical and psychiatric nursing principles, infection control, and safety practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
