Knowledge of current nursing practices, relevant statues and regulations. Administers first aid to injured students and or faculty. Nursing assessment of students or faculty with complaints of illness or injury. Maintains documentationof all care rendered. Nursing notes should be clear, concise and accurate. Notifies parent/guardian when necessary for a student who is ill or injured. Notifies parent/guardian when necessary for a student who is injured and given care and/or needs medical attention. Initiate the emergency response system, 911, for severe illnesses, injuries or allergic reactions. Completes accident reports promptly and accurately. Administer medication as ordered by a health practitioner and documents. Maintains communication with the CSN of changes in the health of the student population. This includes newly diagnosed chronic illness, severe injuries, use of Epi-Pen, student prescribed emergency medication administration, parent conflict and all matters she feels is pertinent. Assists the school nurses, physicians, dental hygienists, and other health personnel in their work, including maintaining the school health record of each student. Assist with health inspections for pediculosis and unidentified skin rashes. Advises teachers and students about procedures and schedules of health exams. Takes In-Service Courses and/or training to remain current in medical techniques and procedures. Performs all related tasks as requested by the principal, Chief School Nurse or CSN. REQUIREMENTS:
Current PA. Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license Current CPR/AED certificate Required state and federal clearnances PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to reach above and below the waist Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects. Some stooping, bending and twisting of the body required. Ability to lift and/or carry supplies and/or papers weighing no more than 20 lbs. Ability to sit, stand, walk or move throughout the building and/or office, often for extended periods of the workday.
