The outpatient nurse is responsible for the overall care of patients seeking treatment in IOP. The nurse is responsible for comprehensive overall Nursing care activities and provides psychiatric nursing needs to the patients. Some essential functions are:
Duties and responsibilities:
Assess patient needs, plans and implements patient care activities and evaluates the patients response to treatment.
Acts within the therapeutic milieu and directs the delivery of nursing care by other members of the treatment team as needed
Collaborates with MD for admission of patients into PPW program.
Coordinates with MD to call in patient medications to pharmacy
Reconciles medications with all providers providing patient medications.
Completes nursing and other salient assessments on all PPW patients.
Facilitates and coordinates insurance reviews to ensure
Maintain medication locker, document proper disposal of discharged/discontinued medications, sharps disposal, etc.
Monitor client medication times as assigned
Monitor medication log for accuracy
Education : Associates degree or higher in Nursing
Licensure/Certification: A current valid license as a Registered Nurse through the Louisiana Board of Registered (RN or greater).
Experience: Nursing with three to five years of experience working with clients with mental health and/or substance use disorders required, including working with clients with domestic violence, probation and parole, and child/family services preferred.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of regulatory requirements, health plan contracts, governmental benefits and
community resources.
Prior experience working with individuals with substance abuse, mental health, and trauma
Extensive experience with rapport building and engagement strategies
Working knowledge of the Recovery Model, Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), and Stages of Change.
Organized with strong documentation skills, attention to detail and able to manage time well and work within EHR
Ability to foster and work in a team-based environment
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Familiarity with basic computer operations and ability to work within an electronic health record system
The ability to engage residents in their personal recovery from addiction
Experience facilitating groups
Extensive experience with rapport building and engagement strategies
Valid Driver's License & vehicle insurance
