Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Job Specialty: Contract Job Duration: 9 months Shift: Day - 5x7.5 - Mon-Thurs 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Fri 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm Guaranteed Hours: 37.5 hours per week Experience: Minimum years of experience not specified License: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Issued by the New York State Department of Health Certifications: Basic Life Saver (BLS) - Issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) Must-Have: - Proficiency in patient care delivery- Competence in therapy administration- Experience with RN charting Job Description: - Deliver nursing care in structured and routine situations free of scientific complexity.- Assist with activities of daily living for patients.- Administer treatments and routine tasks such as suctioning and urinary catheterizations.- Prepare patients for surgery, diagnostic tests, treatments, and examinations.- Administer medications within the scope of practice and accurately collect, label, and process specimens.- Identify and set up intravenous equipment and deliver solutions for infusion through peripheral access devices.- Administer blood or blood products with special training.- Report pertinent observations, treatments, medications, incidents, and accidents to the Registered Professional Nurse and document appropriately.- Recognize the unit-based model for nursing care delivery and assume responsibility for assignments as delegated by the Registered Professional Nurse.- Contribute to the nursing care plan in collaboration with other members of the nursing staff.- Reinforce the patient/family teaching process identified by the RN and provide emotional support to patients and their families/significant others.- Assist with the rehabilitation of patients according to the nursing care plan.- Ensure the physical comfort and safety of the patient.- Contribute to patient care conferences.- Assist in emergency resuscitative procedures by initiating a Team 7000 call, performing resuscitative procedures such as BCLS, and carrying out other activities as directed by the team.- Document nursing care delivered on appropriate forms within the medical record.
