Licensed in a mental health discipline in the Commonwealth of Virginia (i.e. LPC or LCSW).Job Summary The Licensed Professional Counselor position, based at Radford University Carilion in Roanoke, is a 2-4 month temporary position. The position will provide counseling, crisis intervention, well-being initiatives and overall clinical outreach/educational services to the campus community. Responsibilities include intake, assessment, time-limited individual counseling, group counseling, outreach, consultation, and crisis intervention in the areas of mental health and wellness.Required Qualifications Advanced degree in counseling, psychology, clinical social work or related field. Licensed in a mental health discipline in the Commonwealth of Virginia (i.e. LPC or LCSW). Working knowledge of counseling theory and techniques. Knowledge of health records systems (Titanium). Ability to appropriately assess and intervene in crisis situations. Ability to treat all people equitably and with a sensitivity and awareness to cultural differences. Considerable knowledge of professional ethics and the ability to apply to current work. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must be flexible and possess the ability to successfully handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously and work well under pressure, independently, and in a team-oriented environment.Preferred Qualifications Three years prior professional clinical experience working in a community or college/university counseling setting. Experience in brief intervention, mental health crisis assessment, and group therapy. Ability to appropriately assess and intervene in crisis situations.
