The Juvenile Court Clinic located in Worcester, provides evaluations of court-involved youth who are referred by juvenile court judges. Throughout five court sessions in Worcester County, judges have used our services for evaluations pursuant to Child Requiring Assistance (formerly CHINs), delinquency cases and same-day crisis evaluations to assess acute risk for self or others. The Juvenile Court Clinic also conducts evaluations for civil mental health, and forensic and substance use commitment cases. Juvenile Court Clinic services include written clinical and forensic evaluation reports, case consultation, crisis intervention, referral for further services, and testimony as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide court-ordered written evaluation reports for cases involving juvenile delinquency, status matters such as child requiring assistance, parental fitness capacity for care and protection matters, competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, and involuntary mental health and substance use civil commitments. Training is provided.
  • Skill in conducting culturally competent written clinical/mental health, forensic, and substance use evaluation reports for children, adolescents, and families involved with the Massachusetts Juvenile Court.
  • Court-ordered clinical/mental health written evaluation reports include cases involving juvenile delinquency, status matters such as child requiring assistance, youthful offender, and parental fitness capacity evaluations for child abuse and neglect cases for care and protection matters.
  • Court-ordered written forensic evaluations include competency to stand trial and criminal responsibility and evaluations for involuntary mental health and substance use civil commitments.
  • Other specialized written evaluation reports may include substance use, violence risk, fire-setting, and sexual behavior risk and needs.
  • Provide same day mental health crisis evaluations for court-involved youth.
  • Provide formal and informal testimony.
  • Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients, and visitors.

Qualifications:

  • Grade C22: Must have a Doctorate in Psychology or Counseling Psychology.
  • Must be licensed as a psychologist in Massachusetts.
  • Must pursue and obtain Certified Juvenile Court Clinician I&II (supervision and training provided).
  • Must be able to pass a CORI background check.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and vehicle for transportation.
