You will directly support veterinarians in medical and surgical procedures and may independently handle appointments when veterinary oversight is not necessary.If you are ready to join a dynamic team where quality animal care is valued at the highest level, apply for the Licensed Veterinary Technician position today!Pay Range: $28-$30 / hourBenefits:Paid Time OffMedical, Dental, Vision with a Health Savings Account*Employee Assistant Program available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week*Supplemental Life Insurance & AD&D Insurance*401K Plan with Generous Employer MatchMaternity Leave *Bereavement LeaveLife, Short Term, & Disability Insurance*Discount ProgramsDiscounted Veterinary CareOn-Demand Pay OptionsReferral BonusCareer Enhancement Benefits:The opportunity for full tuition payment to attend Penn Foster's veterinary technician program*Access to Zoetis Clinical & Professional Program and EventsAccess to a multitude of VMG resources*Indicates eligibility for Full-Time positions onlyJob ResponsibilitiesRestrain/hold animals of several species for examination and treatmentsAssist in treatment of patients in concert with a doctorGet weights on all patients prior to examinationUse our radiology software for medical records and submission of studies for reviewTake digital photos of procedures/relevant lesions and save to patients' medical recordsRun in-house laboratory specimens and record results in patient medical recordsPrepare laboratory forms/specimens for out-of-office laboratories (Antech and others)Import laboratory and radiographic data into patient medical recordsManage and oversee medical treatments (including collecting laboratory samples, administering SQ fluids, placing IV and urinary catheters, expressing anal sac, etc.)Administer and oversee anesthesia, surgical and dental treatments under the direction of the VeterinarianTake high quality digital radiographsComplete all relevant medical records entries for patientsEnsure that all patients are comfortable, fed, watered and cleanBathe animals as necessary (both therapeutic and general)Keep accurately and timely logs for controlled drugsSetup medications/fill prescriptions when neededHelp monitor inventory, rotation and expiration dates and report needs as requestedAssist in stocking exam rooms/treatment/surgery/radiology rooms as necessaryAssist in ordering of food/supplies/medications as requestedAssist in maintenance of areas both inside and outside of hospital (floors, walks, parking, runs, etc.)Required Skills and QualificationsVeterinary Technician License RequiredHigh School Diploma, GED, or suitable equivalentAssociate's degree in a related field preferredAt least one to two years' experience preferredExperience handling a variety of animalsStrong customer service skillsAbility to communicate effectivelyAbility to lift up to 50 poundsBasic math and writing skillsAbility to express compassionAdvanced understanding of diseases/medications/anesthesiaUnderstanding of vaccinations, basic laboratory tests, common diseases and pet behaviorKnowledge of computer software (Infinity and Office programs)
