The Licensing Manager primarily supports the Director, Licensing in a highly involved day-to-day role serving as a conduit, and ambassador for a top tier account. Other selective accounts may be assigned in alignment with Disney Publishing's commercialization and growth strategies.
You will report to the Director, Licensing.
This is a Full-Time role.
What You Will Do
Category Management:
Supports Director, Licensing on top tier account's everyday responsibilities with an elevated level of input on pub planning, maintaining overarching release & development schedules, financial analysis, preparing presentations, and other various projects
Seeks and shares data, research, and trends for the competitive landscape. Analyzes and understands market trends, consumer trends, and retailer and industry needs – applying to pub planning and recommendations for revenue growth.
Handles other assigned licensees including day-to-day relationships, contract negotiation, data management, planning, approvals, submissions, and marketing.
Analyzes account business performance and develops growth objectives that are aligned with Disney Publishing initiatives.
Ensures licensee requests are researched and addressed in a timely fashion.
Product Development:
Partners with editorial, creative, franchise, and operation teams to recommend, innovate, and bring to market compelling new products for top-tier accounts and categories and to ensure release schedules remain on time and met.
Develops and implements product strategies, merchandising, and marketing plans to ensure that sales are maximized and objectives are met.
Ensures licensee product lines reflect Disney quality and brand objectives.
Retail, Sales and Marketing:
Drives partnerships with PR/Communications & Marketing teams to develop compelling activations to increase revenue and visibility of licensed programs.
Maintains knowledge of the retail landscape and monitors retail sales performance of key licensee's programs. Performs retail-shopping analysis.
Provides any licensee /product information in support of marketing and brand presentations and sales meetings.
Builds strong team-oriented relationships with the division's retail and franchise teams, to develop opportunities for coordination with other categories, lines of business, and departments and/or cross-promotional opportunities
Finance and Business Planning:
Fiscal responsibility for any assigned revenue targets as well as contribution to annual budget planning and quarterly revenue forecasting.
Responsible for seeking new business and revenue growth opportunities with respective licensees or as identified.
Provides licensee/product information in support of marketing, brand presentations, and pitch meetings.
As appropriate, communicate detailed and high-level updates to senior management on account status and budget handling for accounts.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Experience with large, complex organizations and 5+ years of related experience, ideally from the publishing industry
Strong understanding of intellectual property & brand positioning, retail business development function, retail distribution, and the retail environment
Analytical/strategic problem solver mixed with a creative approach
Highly diligent, excellent organizational and project management skills
Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously, flex with a changing landscape with contribution to ad-hoc projects as the business requires
Strong written and verbal skills with an ability to communicate effectively with internal and external senior management in a fast-paced, fluid, and multi-project environment
Self-starter, motivated, proactive, diligent, solutions oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
Teammate with strong collaborative and interpersonal skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, Keynote, and PowerPoint

The hiring range for this position in New York is $89,900 to $120,500 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
