  • 2000 hours Pilot-in Command of a turbine helicopter required, 3,000 hours Pilot-in-Command of a turbine helicopter preferred
  • 200 hours of night helicopter PIC experience required, 300 hours of night helicopter PIC experience preferred
  • 75 Hours Helicopter IFR required; 100 hours helicopter IFR preferred
  • SPIFR experience preferred
Principal Accountabilities
  • Maintains a standby readiness while on duty to ensure rapid response times in accordance with department policy.
  • Operates emergency air ambulance transport service in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), hospital, and department policies, regulations, and standards.
  • Performs all flight procedures, techniques, and skills necessary to effect the safe, efficient delivery of medical personnel to hospital or accident sites, and the transportation of acutely ill and/or critically traumatized patients to tertiary care facilities.
  • Performs non-medical refueling, test, public relations, and crew orientation flights as requested.
  • Maintains constant communications with Flight Operations Communication Center during flight mission; communicates as necessary with Emergency Services personnel, receiving hospital communications center, and air traffic controllers.
  • Inspects all major mechanical, operational, and control systems, as well as all components, and reviews aircraft records to determine pre-flight condition and certify airworthiness. Checks weather reports, fuel requirements, and log books prior to mission.
  • Completes all forms, records, charts, load manifest signatures, and Minimum Equipment Lists as required.
  • Maintains current information on federal regulations, advisories, and procedures. Prepares for semi-annual Federal Aviation tests and pilot training program as necessary.
  • Travels to satellite bases for flight relief duty as assigned.
  • Attends departmental and pilot meetings
  • Maintains clean aircraft and workplace.ntal and pilot meetings.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
