Work Type: Part-time/SeasonalNature of Work: Summary:This work involves monitoring the activities around a city swimming pool to ensure that patrons behave in a safe manner.Education and Experience: (The knowledge, skills, and abilities above may be acquiredthrough, but are not limited to, the following combination of education and/or experience.)Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Competencies and skills:Essential:* Ability to monitor a large number of swimmers and others near the pool and detect unruly or dangerous behavior or improper attire* Ability to administer first aid and CPR* Ability to communicate with co-workers, program participants, and the public.* Ability to understand written and oral instructionsEssential Functions: (Any one position may not perform all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all of the duties that may be performed in positions allocated to this classification.)Detailed responsibilities:* Monitors swimmers in the water and those near the water to enforce the rules of the pool and to ensure the safety of patrons.* Provides assistance to swimmers as needed, removing them from the pool and administering first aid and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).* Enforces the pool's dress code.* Assists in cleaning the pool and grounds.* Performs other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates within the scope of this classification.* In addition to the functions listed above, the following duties will be performed by staff assigned to the program:* Swim Lesson Program:* Oversees Swim Lesson instructors at their designated pool.* Trains the Swim Lesson instructors at their designated pool.* Rec Swim League Program:* Receives training on coaching swim team (no prior experience necessary).* Provides coaching for a variety of age and skill groups.Special Qualifications: Other information:Must be a minimum of 15 years old by June 2, 2025.Must possess lifeguard, first aid, and CPR certifications.Must be able to work varied days and hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.Pay Range: $15.00+ per hourBenefits: Not applicable to part-time/seasonal employmentWho Can Apply: Any person who meets the qualifications and other requirements described in this posting.How to Apply: Completed City of Omaha employment applications must be submitted using the on-line application from the City website.
