POSITION SUMMARY:Under supervision of the Aquatics Director or Head Lifeguard and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the lifeguard is responsible for supervision of swimmers during recreational and fitness swims; administers First Aid, exercises control of the swimmers and maintains all safety and sanitation procedures according to the policies of the Upper Palmetto Aquatics Department and State Swimming Pool Operations Codes. The Lifeguard will assist the Aquatic Director with various branch activities such as special events and other activities that occur on various occasions.Responsible for the safety of facility patronsMust be available to work 5am-9am, age 16 and over onlyMaintains a constant surveillance of the pool areaEnforces all of the facility's policies, rules and regulationsResponds to patron inquiries and concerns as well as provides branch information as neededInspects the aquatic facility on a daily schedule and reports unsafe conditions and equipment to supervisor.Completes records and reports regarding the following:Water chemistryIncidents and accidentsMaintains effective relationships with the members, participants and other staffParticipates in all staff meetings and in-service trainingsConducts aquatic facility maintenance as assignedMaintains a safe, clean, well-supervised pool area that welcomes participationTeam work is promoted and demonstratedCommunicates aquatics programs, rules and regulationsOther duties as neededQualifications:Must be at least 15 years oldMust have a current nationally recognized Lifeguard Certifications to include: American Red Cross, YMCA, ILTP Ellis, Starguard, and Boy Scouts of American Lifeguarding Certification. If not American Red Cross Lifeguard Certified, must complete the American Red Cross Lifeguard course in the first 120 days of employment.Current certification in the following:Professional CPRFirst AidO2 (If you do not currently have this certification, must obtain within 30 days of hire or at first available training)Must present a professional, mature image, and have excellent interpersonal communication skills.Must have a positive attitude and desire to achieve the mission of the Upper Palmetto YMCA.Walking, carrying, sitting, seeing, hearing, crouching, lifting (25 pounds), pushing, kneeling, standing and speakingMust be able to accomplish the followingRemaining alert, with no lapses of consciousnessSit for extended periods including in an elevated chairCommunicate with others immediately when responding to an emergencyHear noises and distress signalsObserve all assigned areas of the pool or water parkPerform all needed rescues, resuscitation and survival skillsThink in abstract, solve problems, make quick decisions#J-18808-Ljbffr
