Comfortable in the water but not certified? No worries - we will train you! Our Lifeguards are vital employees that keep the members in our pools safe. Minimum age is 15 years old. Must have swimming experience, pass a swim skills test, and be able to submit clearances.Employees enjoy FREE use of the facilities at all branches, including our outdoor pools, gym, and wellness center. Maintains active surveillance of the pool area while remaining on deck at all times, never leaving the pool unattended, and responds to any emergency that occursRemain rescue ready while on the pool desk, including proper attireFollows proper protocol for transitioning with other lifeguards for reporting on duty and off duty as per scheduled shifts.Enforces all pool rules in a consistent and friendly manner, and remains calm and objective when under pressure or when challenged by othersOrganizes equipment and keeps pool area neatInforms members about lap patterns and areas of activity while responding to challenges with possible solutions in a timely mannerKeep a friendly and warm atmosphere for all members and guests, but remember the primary responsibility and continue to supervise all areasFollow the proper opening and closing proceduresMaintains accurate records as required by the YMCA (i.e. chemical readings)Attends monthly staff meetings and trainingsLEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES:

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Certifications: American Red Cross Lifeguard
- Obtain Mandated Reporter Clearance
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

- Physically perform all skills required of a lifeguard

- See and observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility
- Employee must be able to communicate effectively by speaking and listening in a loud environment

RequirementsQualifications:
- Minimum age of 15
- Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid
- Current Lifeguard Certification
- Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness
