DescriptionYMCA Swim School takes a safety-first approach, focusing on small class sizes, boosting confidence in the water, building student/instructor relationships, and allowing each student to progress at their own pace. Our lessons develop aquatic readiness, engage in underwater exploration, and teach children important water safety skills.The YMCA provides weekly lap swims, open swims, swim lessons, water exercise classes, and adaptive swim time. Each year, over 5,000 youth learn the vital skill of swimming. The Fercho YMCA pool has been the home of the FM Gators swim team for over 50 years.Lifeguard:
- Responsible for active surveillance of the pool area - maintaining safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas
- Create a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement
- Maintain knowledge of all emergency procedures and respond to emergencies immediately
- Keep the pool and pool areas clean and clear of any potential hazards, and assure the pool is never left unattended
Requirements1. At least 15 years old2. American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
- Not a Certified Lifeguard? Get Certified at the YMCA!
- Attend a YMCA Lifeguard Certification/Re-certification Course at the YMCA.
- Pass the Lifeguarding CourseFree Registration!
- The Lifeguarding course includes CPR & First Aid.
- The YMCA will train you!
2. And must also complete:
- Within 90 days of hire: 15 hours of basic childcare training through Child Care Aware
- Within 90 days of hire: CPR/FA Certification for Adult, Child, Pediatrics
