We encourage interested candidates to apply at any time.GENERAL DESCRIPTION:Under general supervision, ensures the safety of patrons at the Lindsay Aquatic and Wellness Center. Prevents and responds to emergencies as needed. Applicants must enjoy working with people, be enthusiastic, reliable, and punctual.SUPERVISION RECEIVED:Works under the close supervision of the Wellness Center Director. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.
  • Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
  • Always presents professional appearance and attitude and maintains a high standard of customer service.
  • Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
  • Prepares and maintains appropriate activity reports.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
PERIPHERAL DUTIES:Work closely with City and Wellness staff to coordinate activities, community events, parties, memberships, etc. May be asked to assist with swim lessons and/or concessions or other duties associated with recreation activities at the Lindsay Aquatic and Wellness Center. Hours and days vary based on activities and hours of operation. Typical QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum age of 16, CPR/AED certified
  • California Food Handlers Safety Card
  • Current certification as a lifeguard by a recognized source of training (may apply if planning to take course prior to start date).
  • Must be able to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to swim, be of sound physical fitness, able to pass a background check.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical skills evaluation as stipulated by the department.
  • Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
  • Knowledge of CPR and First Aid (emergency medical procedures).
  • Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:CPR certification, Lifeguard certification (Both Certifications must be current thru 09/01/2022).
