We encourage interested candidates to apply at any time.GENERAL DESCRIPTION:Under general supervision, ensures the safety of patrons at the Lindsay Aquatic and Wellness Center. Prevents and responds to emergencies as needed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.
- Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
- Always presents professional appearance and attitude and maintains a high standard of customer service.
- Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
- Prepares and maintains appropriate activity reports.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
PERIPHERAL DUTIES:Work closely with City and Wellness staff to coordinate activities, community events, parties, memberships, etc. May be asked to assist with swim lessons and/or concessions or other duties associated with recreation activities at the Lindsay Aquatic and Wellness Center. Hours and days vary based on activities and hours of operation. Typical QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum age of 16, CPR/AED certified
- California Food Handlers Safety Card
- Current certification as a lifeguard by a recognized source of training (may apply if planning to take course prior to start date).
- Must be able to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Must be able to swim, be of sound physical fitness, able to pass a background check.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical skills evaluation as stipulated by the department.
- Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
- Knowledge of CPR and First Aid (emergency medical procedures).
- Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
- Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:CPR certification, Lifeguard certification (Both Certifications must be current thru 09/01/2022).
