You can learn more about the benefits that the City of Greensboro offers by visiting Work Schedule:1 position THIRD SHIFT Sunday-Thursday 10:30 PM-06:30 AM About the Role: This Light Equipment Operator will be responsible for operation of a street sweeper, flusher, front-loader, knuckle boom loader, and a single-axle do-all vehicle. The primary duties will include sweeping curb and gutter streets using a street sweeper/flusher, knuckle boom loader, and front-loader truck.Other job duties include:• Cleaning illegal dump sites• Collecting sweeper dumps• Right-of-way tree limb and curb line cut backs• Various washouts• Litter collection• Dead animal removal• Island cleaningThis employee is expected to be a crew leader during loose leaf collection program and to participate in the snow and ice removal program. The employee will be on an emergency call back rotating schedule and will be assigned to special events throughout the year. These special events normally happen on week nights, holidays, and weekends.The selected applicant must possess the ability to follow written and prepared routes, use two-way radios, communicate both orally and in written form, and complete daily survey and vehicle inspection forms. The schedule is subject to change during a holiday week or for emergency service which may require working a flexible schedule with little or no notice and may include weekends or holidays. This employee must have good attendance.The physical duties include: standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, walking on uneven surfaces, shoveling, and heavy lifting up to (50 pounds). Work is performed outside in all weather conditions. This employee must have and maintain a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with tanker and air brake endorsements and a reliable means of contact such as home or cellular telephone.
