Salary: $15.00 Hourly Location : Altamonte Springs, FL Job Type: Limited Term Job Number: 202500036 Department: Leisure Services Division: PLM&O Opening Date: 11/22/2024 FLSA: Non-Exempt Position Function On an on-call basis, prepare City facilities including ball fields for community use, programs and events. May be solely responsible for the maintenance and care of areas during shift. Must be able to interact with the public when necessary. Tasks/Duties
- Perform proper maintenance techniques to ensure a safe, playable surface including maintaining infield, infield lips, baselines, warning tracks, pitching mounds and home plate areas.
- Assist the PLM&O Staff in the operation and maintenance of City Parks.
- Provide set-up and cleaning of facilities for practices, games, tournaments, and events.
- Assist the PLM&O Staff in set-up and strike of special events.
- Prepare turf area facilities for programs, community use and events. Responsible for the proper care of turf field maintenance to include grooming infields and sports fields for all programs.
- Ensure safe and proper use of tools and equipment.
- Provide general grounds maintenance to ballfields and common areas, to include cleaning or dugouts, removing trash from fields and common areas, rake warning tracks and slide paths, etc.
- Fill batter's boxes and mounds on artificial turf and grass infields.
- Identify and inform supervisor of insects, diseases and nutrient deficiencies within the turf.
- Drive to and from various city work locations to set up or break down events.
- Clean trucks and equipment used in groundskeeper/landscape maintenance duties.
- Perform other duties as needed when assigned by a supervisor.
- Assist with Leisure Services Department projects and events assigned.
QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in ball field care and maintenance.
- One (1) year experience with landscape maintenance equipment in a commercial environment.
- Able to work any and all combinations of shift assignments, which includes evenings, weekends and be flexible to work any shift.
- Valid driver license. Must obtain Florida driver license within thirty (30) days of employment.
PREFERABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Six (6) months horticultural experience to include knowledge of various plant materials, trees and annuals.
- Experience operating trucks, small rollers, tractors and similar turf equipment.
- Experience in the operation of equipment, such as chain saws, farm tractors, rotary tillers, bobcats and specialized turf and earth moving equipment.
- Experience with irrigation maintenance

Driving history for the past three (3) years must reflect no violations of a driving related offense, or driving under the influence (DUI) which includes both drugs and alcohol, reckless driving, or hit and run involving an occupied vehicle or attended property, or an accumulation of traffic violations, plus three (3) points for each attendance at driving school (regardless of whether points were assessed against the license) where the penalty points do not exceed twelve (12).
