SUMMARYAs a member of the Converting Team, the Line Attendant works throughout the converting facilities with other Line Attendants on Grated, Shred, Deli, Wedge, Wax and Box, and Clean and Sort production lines. The Line Attendant removes materials from cartons, loads the processing line, perform equipment change overs, complete quality checks, packages and palletizes finished products. This is a 1st shift position working Monday - Friday, 7:00am to 3:00pm.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- All Team Members will be cross-trained on Grated, Shred, Deli, Wedge, Wax and Box and Clean and Sort Lines.
- Remove raw materials from pallets, bags, boxes or totes.
- Feed raw materials in correct quantities, based on formulas and product specifications.
- Perform general housekeeping for the Converting department including sweeping, removing cardboard, garbage bags, and pallets from staging or process area(s).
- Inspect cheese and materials for mold, dirt or foreign substance.
- Clean cheese with a knife or segregate cheese on a pallet for inspection and cleaning as needed.
- Fill cellulose, salt, and/or ingredient dispenser(s) to maintain supply for production.
- Perform production change-overs, cleaning, and/or assembly of equipment as required.
- Perform in process quality checks on production line.
- Fill and complete quality documentation associated with essential job functions.
- Set up, maintain, clean / sanitize equipment using cleaning/sanitizing chemicals.
- Operate packaging, processing, manual/powered pallet jacks, and lot dating equipment on converting lines.
- Remove finished pallets from packaging area.
- Maintain and sustain 5S standards on production lines.
- Track material movement using touch panel screen to collect data, control product flow through the process and correct process issues.
- Use a data collection device to scan finished goods and raw materials.
- Place finished packages into correct box. Inspects packaging for any defects.
- Comply with company Safety, HACCP and GMP policies.
- Report any food safety or quality issues to management or other individual authorized to initiate action.
- Support training of other Team Members.

- Food manufacturing experience or experience working in a converting facility is desirable.

Blocks or wheels of cheese are carried from pallets to a conveyor staging area about 30 high. Pallets weighing up to 60 pounds must be stacked up to 5 feet high. If assisting in the packaging area, which will occur occasionally, the Team Member must be able to frequently place/carry bags of cheese weighing 5 to 25 pounds from a turntable to cheese boxes, both 30 above the floor. On a typical work day, the Team Member will work in refrigerated conditions with temperatures ranging from 35-50 degrees. The Team Member will be working around safeguarded machinery with rotating,mechanical parts and conveyor belts as well as be expected to lift up to 40lbs. The Team Member will occasionally be exposed to caustic and/or toxic chemicals used for sanitation and cleaning. Due to the loud noise levels, ear protection is required.TOOLS & EQUIPMENT USEDWhile performing the duties of this job, the Team Member may be required to work with motorized pallet truck, hand dolly, stretch wrap machine, hand knives, hand tools, calculator, box tape machine, and Case Printer and data collection device, robotic palletizer, and metal detector.PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREDPersonal protective equipment that is required when working with hazardous materials or loud equipment includes: safety goggles, rubber or latex gloves, lab coat and hearing protection.
