Competitive pay based on experience, pay range: $19-$21 an hourKey AccountabilitiesStation Set Up, Prepping Food, Cooking , Clean Up, StockingDuty StatementThe line cook is responsible for preparing their station before the start of each service. This can mean chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces. Depending on the kitchen's needs, the line cook may be asked to prepare items for other stations or special events. This requires working with other cooks in the kitchen to ensure that food is ready at the right time, in the correct order, so that it arrives at the customer's location prepared to eat and at the right temperature. At the end of service, the line cook is responsible for cleaning their station and may be asked to help other cooks clean up their stations. This means disposing garbage, cleaning utensils, pots, and pans, and cleaning cooking surfaces. The line cook will also be responsible for taking care of leftover food, whether that means disposing of it, returning unused items to the correct inventory location, or storing cooked goods for use at another service. The line cook is also called on to correctly unload delivery trucks and store inventory. This can mean stocking pantries, walk-in refrigerators, or simply inventorying items and reporting to the Executive Chef.PerformanceStandards
- Hot Line Cooks activities are expected to be carried out with direct supervision.
- Must be able to multi-task, processing several events simultaneously
- Ability to work well with internal participants is essential
Position Requirements Job SpecificationsMinimum Education Level RequiredHigh School Diploma or GED equivalentThe minimum experience level required
- Must have three years of experience in the catering kitchen environment, 5 years of experience preferred.
- Obtain/have DuPage Co Health department Food Handler Certification.
The skills requiredThe job requires knowledge of coking procedures, kitchen equipment, knowledge of safety rules of kitchen equipment and kitchen procedures.Physical requirement'sThis Job requires an incumbent to be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
