We require an experienced cook who is familiar with a wide range of cooking techniques, including poaching, braising, roasting, charbroiling, sautéing, grilling, frying, and baking. Responsibilities: • Guarantee that quality food is supplied, by adhering to specified storage and waste control requirements for meats, vegetables, fruits, and dairy products • Clean and sanitize all workstations, including counters, utensils, cooking equipment, and the refrigerator, in accordance with health and safety regulations • Ensure that all interactions with visitors, vendors and colleagues are conducted in a professional and friendly manner • Cook food orders at stations by following established recipes and presentation standards for grilling, broiling, and sautéing menu items • Establish a system of food stations and stock them with all of the necessary ingredients for the shift • Portion and preparation of food items, including fish, beef, chicken, pork, etc., as prescribed by company specifications • Preparation of sauces and/or garnishes as required by company specifications related to the specific menu item • Performs related work as assigned and as circumstance requires • Be able to interact with vendors and customers when needed • Set up food stations and prepare the needed items for service • Keep all workstations, counters, equipment, and other kitchen areas clean and sanitary according to health and safety guidelines • Guarantee that food quality is adhered to, properly stored food and items while meeting waste control requirements • Follow established recipes and prepare foods to presentation standards Qualifications: • Educational requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent GED certificate • Previous experience working in food service is preferred • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with customers and coworkers • Candidates need a strong understanding of compliance with kitchen safety and food storage requirements • Candidates must be hardworking, detail-oriented, and have a strong work ethic Required Skills/Abilities: • Possess strong work ethic • Ability to produce an excellent culinary and restaurant experience for patrons • Excellent time management, scheduling, managerial, and organizational skills • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with a variety of personalities and under pressure Education and Experience: • Experience in food preparation work is preferred • Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is preferred • Must meet the minimum age requirement as prescribed by law • Possess or willing to obtain a valid Food Handler Certificate Physical Requirements: • Prolonged periods of standing and preparing and cooking food • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times • Must be able to work in a kitchen environment that may involve exposure to extreme heat or cold Compensation: $16 - $20 hourly
