Farm to People is a fast-growing online grocery delivery service specializing in sustainably-sourced, seasonal produce and artisanal foods. Our customers can subscribe to a curated Farm Box or can choose to shop à la carte. We deliver 5 days per week and are rapidly expanding in the NYC market. We have a vast and ever-changing array of fresh produce, meats, dairy, bakery, and pantry items.

We recently launched prepped meals (frozen & fresh) made from our kitchen. We're looking for an entry-level Prep Cook to join our kitchen team and help us successfully scale this new assortment of cooked products!

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Entry-Level Prep Cook to join our kitchen team. As an essential member of the culinary department, the Prep Cook will be responsible for assisting in various kitchen tasks, ranging from dishwashing and food preparation to cooking and packaging. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced kitchen environment, possesses a strong work ethic, and can work efficiently both independently and under supervision.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation of ingredients and ingredients' cutting, chopping, and measuring, following standardized recipes and instructions.

  • Cooking: Under the guidance of experienced cooks or chefs, help in cooking and assembling dishes to meet quality and presentation standards.

  • Packaging: Participate in packaging and organizing cooked food, ensuring proper portioning, labeling, and maintaining food safety standards.

  • Dishwashing: Ensure that dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment are cleaned, sanitized, and organized promptly to maintain a hygienic kitchen environment.

  • Kitchen Assistance: Support the kitchen team with various tasks, including cleaning and maintaining work areas, equipment, and storage spaces.

  • Compliance: Adhere to health and safety regulations, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen at all times.

  • Efficiency and Time Management: Work efficiently to meet productivity targets while maintaining the quality of food and adhering to preparation guidelines.

  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations, fostering a positive work environment.

Qualifications:

  • A passion for cooking and an interest in pursuing a career in the culinary industry.

  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced kitchen environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently when required.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and food safety standards.

  • Flexibility to work on weekends and holidays as required by the schedule.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Prior kitchen experience is a plus.

Schedule:

Saturday: 7AM - 3PM

Sunday: 7AM - 3PM

Monday : 7AM - 3PM

Tuesday: 7AM - 3PM

Wednesday: 7AM - 3PM

Salary:

Rates start at $17 - $20 per hour depending on experience.
