As a Line Cook, you will be responsible for producing high-quality food quickly, efficiently, and accurately to meet business volume and supervisor's expectations. Your role will involve preparing orders on an a la carte basis and prepping for buffets, banquets, salad bars, and hors d' oeuvres. Job Responsibilities:
- Open up each shift preparing and organizing the station for the day's service.
- Prepare all items for sauces, soups, and buffet entrees to be ready for the assigned time.
- Rearrange the line and steam table to facilitate luncheon cooking and service.
- Ensure that all orders are cooked quickly and according to order, while maintaining the highest quality standards.
- Learn menus, recipes, preparation, and presentation.
- Ensure that all food is stored in proper containers and at proper storage and holding temperatures.
- Cook only sufficient food in advance to cover expected business volume and to maintain quality.
- Work with the kitchen staff to ensure that all food is prepared on time.
- Prepare food for other kitchen departments as needed.
- Prepare all food for the next shift and the following day as required and directed by the supervisor.
- Maintain the work area Follow all safety and sanitation procedures.
Job Skills:
Must be able to prep food products, using standardized food preparation techniques.Skillfully use hand tools or machines needed for work. Measure, cut, or otherwise work on materials or objects with great precision.Use arithmetic or shop geometry to figure amounts of material needed, dimensions to be followed and cost of materials.Read recipes of items to be prepared. RequirementsEducation
Experience
- A minimum of one year of proven experience as a line cook in a full-service restaurant or hotel or similar setting
- Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
- Ability to follow recipes and menu specifications
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work quickly and efficiently
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
- Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends and evenings
Licenses/Certifications
- Food Safety Certification
Salary Description $17.00 to $21.00/hour
