Selected candidates will be responsible for assisting with the construction, operation, and maintenance of overhead and electric lines on our transmission system.Responsibilities include:Consistently adhere to safety rules to work in proximity of high and low voltage electric equipmentRegularly climb and work from power poles 50-225 feet or more, and other tall structuresSafely handle heavy/bulky equipment and materialsBe available to respond to work after hours, scheduled overtime, callouts and urgent needs 24 hours/day, 7 days/weekWork outside in inclement weather conditionsSuccessfully complete the four (4) year apprenticeship training program which includes both written and hands-on instructionThis position pays a starting hourly rate of $24.86.Additional Qualifications/ResponsibilitiesRequired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & ExperienceMinimum Requirements (Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications):0-2 years of directly related experienceHigh School diploma or GEDAdditional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Valid driver's license with a good driving historyAbility to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL-Class A) within six (6) months of hireExcellent physical condition, strong mechanical skills, and the ability to work long hours during emergency or storm restoration situationsBe available to work after hours, scheduled overtime, and callout workLive within a 25-mile radius (or 30-minute drive) of the position's service territory/work locationBe physically and mentally capable of climbing and working from utility poles Education RequirementsCompletion of high school or equivalent (i.e., GED) is required.Licenses, Certifications, or Quals DescriptionMust have a valid driver's license with a safe driving history.
