Position Summary
Under the general direction of the linen supervisor, performs related duties associated with the collection, processing, distribution and inventory of linens and scrubs. Receives and distributes laundry and linen to and from various departments throughout the facilities .Distributes requested clean linen, maintains inventories and stores the clean linen.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:
* Examines laundered items to ensure cleanliness and serviceability.
* Stores laundered items in the appropriate area after examining and verifying number and types of items.
* Counts and assembles laundered items on cart or linen truck and delivers to the departments.
* Collects, receives, counts and records number of items of soiled linen for laundry and places items in containers.
* Responsible for weighing clean linen in and dirty linen out.
* Conducts inventories to identify items for replacement.
* Delivers linen timely, efficiently and correctly to designated areas.
* Responds to all linen calls.
* Collects empty linen trucks.
* Ensure extra linen is consolidated and available for distribution for the next day.
* Ensure all linen concerns/issues are communicated to the managers to ensure they are remedied timely and efficiently without incident.
* Keep linen room clean and orderly. Ensure clean and soiled linen areas are kept clean and clear of obstruction and operational. Soiled linen chute rooms are free of linen and clutter.
* Fill and monitor scrub machine dispensers and receiver.
* Ensure machines are filled with clean scrubs and receivers are free of soiled scrubs. Ensure that the machines fully operational.
* Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors
* Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Related experience and/or training preferred.
Core Competencies
Team work - ability to work well with others.
Basic math skills required
Good organizational skills- responsible for inventory of linen.
Good communication skills, written and verbal.
English language strongly preferred and the ability to read and comprehend policies and procedures.
Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements & Work Environment
* Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods. Position requires bending, stooping, reaching up, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
* Ability to implement proper lifting technique and satisfy the physical demand associated with all linen job tasks.
* Occasionally squats and kneels.
* Reaches up two feet overhead on an occasional basis.
* Ability to operate all linen equipment.
* Near-visual acuity for detecting soiled or torn linen; color perception required.
* Auditory acuity adequate for hearing normal voice tones when not facing individual and to detect noises in malfunctioning equipment.
* Manual dexterity, digital sensitivity, and flexibility in order to operate equipment and manipulate linen/laundry.
* Mental Demands - Verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak, read, and write the English language, and basic math skills.
