**LINEWORKER, MAINTENANCE (BALDWIN, WI)**

The Lineworker, Maintenance is responsible for the safe inspection, maintenance, repair, and operation of the transmission line system, including transmission lines and substations in respective areas. Be available to aid and troubleshoot issues in emergency situations, working as needed to restore power to the system.

**The Impact You'll Make In This Role:**

**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS** : This list is developed to demonstrate the level of duties normally performed by this classification and to develop a related wage rate. The list is not an all-encompassing list of duties.

1. Perform all work in accordance with established safety rules, safety practices, work methods, company policies, and procedures. Foster safe work practices and mindset while performing work in the most efficient manner possible. Responsible for knowing and executing Human Performance tools daily while completing work activity.

2. Responsible for the safe inspection, operation and maintenance of all transmission lines and substation facilities within a respective designated area with emphasis on facility reliability and life expectancy.

3. Executes knowledge and skill to perform all necessary work on transmission poles, which requires climbing and installing or replacing conductor, insulators, hardware, crossarms, or attachments. Inspect transmission lines on walking patrol for damage and obstructions.

4. Executes knowledge and skill in correct line and substation switching procedures.

5. Assume responsibility for the safe and proper maintenance and upkeep of vehicles, tools, and other Dairyland assets or equipment being utilized, assigned or unassigned.

6. Execute responsibility for reporting problems, deficiencies, conditions, etc., to the Area Supervisor; Complete work requests to begin the workflow through the work management process.

7. Responsible for communicating issues regarding other departments directly to the appropriate departments: These may include System Operations Center, Vegetation Management, Electrical Maintenance, Right-of-Way, Transmission/Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Safety

8. Responsible for planning, prioritizing, and scheduling all maintenance activities and for coordinating the activities with the area supervisor for respective area.

9. Participate in and complete pre-job and post-job briefings.

10. Responsible for maintaining appropriate relations and interactions with other utilities, property owners, and the general public.

11. Responsible for documentation of work activity/completion using systems such as Dynaway, D365 Work Order Management, TREM, etc., while performing and executing work.

12. Assist in the training of co-workers regarding safety rules, company policies, switching, maintenance and all work-related procedures.

13. Other duties historically performed by this classification.

**Your Experience and Expertise:**

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** **:**

**Education & Experience** **:** High school diploma or GED and completion of a recognized accredited lineworker program. Journeyman status preferred. Two (2) years of transmission line construction experience preferred (maintenance experience acceptable).

**Skills** **:** Knowledge of personal protective grounding methods, switching, patrolling, documentation, and record keeping, substation fuse replacement, line and substation maintenance and repair. Ability to identify outage-causing issues and initiate preventative measures, troubleshoot, and restore service during outages. Pole and steel climbing skills. Understand of theory of electricity and associated principles. Computer skills necessary. Good written and verbal communication skills.

**Licenses and Certifications** **:** Valid Drivers License. Class A Commercial Drivers License.

**Physical Demands** **:** Operate small and large trucks, basket truck, derrick, end loader and UTV/ATV. Manipulate/operate air compressor, hot sticks, hydraulic tools, shovel, cant hook, protective ground, hand tools, insulators, anchors, cross arms (weighing up to 100 lbs), wire, rope, and two-way radio. Occasionally climb poles or stand in a hydraulic bucket to work at height of 55 feet or more, often working in awkward positions. Frequently lift materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lift items that weigh up to 100 pounds. Must be able to perform pole top and bucket rescue. Shovel dirt, work around noisy equipment, and visually inspect work. Occasionally work with energized lines that must be handled according to NESCO/OSHA and DPC Safety Practices.

Occasionally work at night, on weekends and holidays to repair or install lines. Interact with crew members, foreperson, and supervisor via verbal and written communication. Position requires the ability to hear, use near and far vision, stand, walk, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, twist upper body, climb hand-over-hand, and manipulate a variety of objects and tools. Must be able to drive a variety of motor vehicles and operate hydraulic equipment.

**Environmental Demands** **:** Work outdoors with great physical exertion, often in poor weather conditions. Work on uneven terrain in fields and along roads, often encountering vehicular traffic.

**Other Job Characteristics** **:** Off-duty availability.

**Primary Living Location** **:** Must relocate/reside within 25 air mile radius of designated work location. (Refer to Letter of Understanding Electrical Maintenance and Transmission Living Distance document effective October 19, 2023.)
