ACE Group is seeking an experienced Linux IT System Administrator to directly support our customer working with new research for DoD Modelling and Simulation capabilities. This role manages lab IT systems by ensuring compliance, working with customer needs, and helping to shape new IT capabilities to support the mission. The ideal candidate will have experience configuring/administering Linux workstations that may be interconnected and/or stand-alone. They will have a basic working knowledge on system networking along with Linux administration for stand-alone and networked connected systems. The candidate must be a highly motivated self-starter, capable of working in a very dynamic environment that can leverage innovation and experience to tackle unique system issues that may arise. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Provide technical support for both hardware and software issues
- Manage the configuration and operation of client-based computer operating systems
- Monitor system security requirements and respond to Information Assurance or usability concerns
- Create and verify backups of data
- Upgrade systems and processes as required for enhanced functionality and security issue resolution
- Administrate Linux infrastructure, including software firewalls, domain and file servers, network switches, databases, malware protection, software, and other processes
- Perform system updates and compliance with Tenable Nessus scanning and implementing Secure Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) on classified workstations
- Develop remediation of security findings through technical and administrative controls and work with the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to meet IA requirements
- Install and test computer-related equipment and scanners
Requirements MINIMUM TANGIBLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Four years of experience performing System Administration tasks on Linux based systems
- AA/AS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- Experience working with the following: Linux OS installation and configuration, repository, antivirus, and application updates, Integration of software, User permission management and event log reviews, troubleshooting user issues and general IT administration functions
- Experience implementing and validating DISA (STIGs), vulnerability scanning and plug-in updates (NESSUS), and working with NIST SP 800-53a security controls for Risk Management Framework (RMF) on classified systems
- Ability to troubleshoot connectivity and software installation and integration issues
- One or more certifications meeting DoD Cyber Workforce Improvement Program requirements for IA Technician Level 2 and IA Manager Level 1 such as Security+, CCNA-Security, CySA+, or CND
- One Linux Distribution OS certification
- Must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; U.S. citizenship
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems
- Experience with RMF and compliance with Authority to Operate (ATO) requirements for continuous monitoring of classified systems to include configuration management practices
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 9
- Advanced cyber security certifications meeting DoD IA Manager level 2 or 3such as: Certified Information Systems Security Professions (CISSP), or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
- Three years of experience in the use of software applications to support Engineering for Naval Aviation
- One year of recent and relevant application programming experience in support of Naval Aviation in the following areas: Custom Databases, Microsoft Products, Modelling and Simulation software
- Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) or Periodic Reinvestigation (PR) completed within the last six years
