Title: Linux Administrator

Location: Houston, TX (Onsite)

Duration: Fulltime

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver patches within a 30-day window of patch release to all systems in the organization.
  • Provide advanced technical expertise in the installation, configuration, and management of AIX operating systems.
  • Design and implement complex AIX solutions, including high-availability and disaster recovery configurations.
  • Lead performance tuning, capacity planning, and optimization efforts to enhance system efficiency and reliability.
  • Advise on strategic direction and best practices for AIX system deployments and upgrades.
  • Develop and implement strategies for system integration, scalability, and performance improvement.
  • Collaborate with senior management and other IT leaders to align AIX infrastructure with business objectives.
  • Lead and oversee major projects involving AIX systems, including migrations, upgrades, and new implementations.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution and delivery.
  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Provide high-level troubleshooting and resolution for complex system issues.
  • Act as an escalation point for challenging problems and provide guidance to other IT staff.
  • Mentor and train other team members and IT staff on advanced AIX topics and best practices.
  • Develop and deliver training materials, documentation, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Ensure that AIX systems adhere to security policies, compliance standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and oversee security measures to protect data and systems from threats.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for AIX system configurations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Provide detailed reports on system performance, incidents, and project outcomes.

Qualifications we seek in you!

Minimum Qualifications / Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Extensive experience in AIX system administration, with a minimum of [X] years in a senior or expert-level role.
  • Deep knowledge of AIX operating systems and related technologies.
  • Proven expertise in designing and managing high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Advanced skills in performance tuning, capacity planning, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in shell scripting and automation tools.

Preferred Qualifications/ Skills

  • Relevant IBM certifications such as IBM Certified System Administrator - AIX, IBM Certified Advanced Technical Expert, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
