We offer direct services, including afterschool & youth mentorship programming, job training & placement, elder care services, and social services such as citizenship & housing services.Job DescriptionChinese Mutual Aid Association (CMAA) seeks a mission-driven Literacy Associate to support our Adult Education programming. The Volunteer Literacy program will assist with growing and coordinating our Adult Volunteer Literacy program through volunteer cultivation, tutor-learner matching, and data reporting. This person will demonstrate skills in data collection, analysis, and reporting; cross-cultural communication; client-centered service; administrative filing, and a commitment to working with immigrant and refugee populationsRequirements
- Conduct outreach for, recruit, and onboard volunteer tutors via a variety of communication methods for CMAA's Adult Volunteer Literacy Program
- Conduct outreach for, recruit, and administer intakes for Adult Education learners to be matched with volunteer tutors and provide support to volunteers
- Support tutor in-service training and resource access by coordinating training workshops and appreciation events, and maintaining a variety of up-to-date tutor resources and engagement opportunities, including a tutor handbook and online ESL resource list
- Support the Adult Volunteer Literacy program's administrative tasks by maintaining up-to-date client and volunteer data in agency-wide databases and spreadsheets, and assisting with quarterly grant reports and annual grant applications
- Represent CMAA at professional development and network meetings as needed
- Advocate on behalf of Adult Education students and instructors, working with the Adult Education/Workforce Development team to identify opportunities for program growth
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (required)
- Ability to work both independently and as a team member, demonstrating cultural sensitivity to constituents
- Experience managing multiple projects and a demonstrated ability to adhere to deadlines, particularly in regards to analyzing data
- Proficiency in multiple Google platforms and Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Fluency in a second language is a plus
Work Environment
- This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Demands
- This is a largely sedentary role, however, some filing is required. This could require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
