Literacy CoachQualifications
- Possess a valid teaching certification in Secondary English 119, Elementary 115, 116, 117 and/or 120
- Master's Degree preferred
- Experience and expertise as a teacher of English, Reading and/or Writing
- Minimum of 3 years classroom experience
- Good interpersonal skills to share proven instructional approaches with teachers and administrators
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Commitment to continuous professional learning
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementation of all components of district's literacy initiative
Reports ToSchool PrincipalSupervisesNAJob GoalWorks directly with teachers full-time in schools providing classroom-based demonstrations, working collaboratively with one-on-one coaching, and facilitating teacher inquiry and related professional development.Essential Functions
- Provides in school demonstrations, model effective practices in classrooms, and coach teachers on all components of the process of reading and writing
- Facilitates weekly grade level peer coaching study team meetings
- Assists schools in the administration of initial and on-going literacy assessments
- Collects, organizes and distributes data to help focus teachers instructional activities
- Participates fully in district's professional development for coaches, including peer observations, professional research and reading
- Provides on-site implementation of the district's professional development in the area of literacy
- Maintains all required documentation
- Conducts regular classroom observation
- Participates in regular instructional leadership team and problem-solving meetings with teachers and principals
- Performs other related duties as requested or assigned
