Job Description:

If you are interested in the legal profession and are a highly motivated self-starter, the Nissenbaum Law Group may be perfectly suited to get you to the next level. Our firm is in search of a full-time Practice Assistant. We focus on training and mentoring new employees to become adept at working in a commercial law legal practice.

This is an excellent career opportunity for someone who is ambitious, organized and looking to augment their current skill set as a legal assistant. We offer a dynamic and rapidly growing boutique law firm experience in which the new employee will become an integral member of our team by providing critical administrative support to our attorneys.

The time commitment of this role is a minimum of 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday, in person, 5 days a week, at our Union, New Jersey location.

Our firm focuses almost exclusively on commercial law and attorney ethics defense. While we are a full-service practice for businesses with both litigation and transactional matters, this Practice Assistant role would call upon you to support our Litigation and Attorney Ethics Defense Team. That team is comprised of several attorneys, a paralegal and practice assistants. We are seeking to augment our team with another Practice Assistant that has the following qualities:

  • 2 years minimum previous experience in an administrative support role, preferably (though not necessarily) in the legal profession;
  • Professionalism and the capability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality along with being able to interface effectively with clients, attorneys and other professionals;
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines;
  • Taking dictation and typing at a rate of 65 wpm (or more);
  • Outstanding attention to detail;
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with a typical digital office infrastructure;
  • Being able to work independently on assignments in a strong team-oriented environment;
  • Willingness to work overtime when necessary.

How will you make an impact? Here are some of the skillsets in which we would train you:

  • Aid attorneys with client intake and assisting in handling phone inquiries;
  • Coordinate calendaring and appointments for members of the Litigation team
  • Maintain calendars using Outlook and other legal specific software;
  • Process mail and deliveries;
  • Coordinate e-filing and submissions to state, federal and appellate courts;
  • Manage the submission of court documents and other filings by proactively alerting attorneys to litigation deadlines;
  • Perform additional duties, administrative responsibilities and special projects as assigned by management;
  • Provide back-up support when available and as needed.

Mr. Nissenbaum, the managing principal of our law firm, has created a robust and comprehensive training course that he has been providing to new employees for the past 20 years. It consists of modules that range in topics from commercial litigation to intellectual property to corporate transactional filings. This provides employees with a one-on-one experience to learn directly from Mr. Nissenbaum and set themselves up for success.

While the current need is for a Practice Assistant, potential for advancement may become available through our additional internal Paralegal training and duties, according to the opportunities and needs that arise in the practice. This position is for someone who is looking to advance their career within the legal profession through supporting a forward-leaning, boutique law firm.
