At Aurora Flight Sciences, we design, build, and fly advanced aircraft and enabling technologies from concept to reality. We are searching for a talented and self-motivated Loads and Dynamics Engineer to help us create the future of flight. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
Responsibilities- Develop and/or interpret aeroelastic loads and stability (aircraft static, dynamic, ground loads, flutter) based on aerodynamic and dynamic analysis. - Perform sensitivity studies and trades studies to guide aeroelastic design constraints. - Develop loads plan, loads cases, and required testing to meet certification requirements. - Develop and implement models and tools to generate aeroelastic analysis. - Synthesize results to obtain critical load cases and stability boundaries. - Validate loads/flutter via experimental data correlation.
Minimum Requirements- B.S. in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or other relevant discipline. - 1-2 years of working experience or graduate degree including loads or flutter analysis. - Excellent problem solving and communication skills. - Solid understanding of aircraft loads and aeroelasticity (fundamentals in aerodynamics, rigid body dynamics, statics, & dynamics) - Experience with aerodynamic modeling (such as vortex/doublet lattice methods, CFD, etc.) and/or finite element analysis (FEA) - Experience with analysis tools such as MATLAB, Python, and Excel. - Experience with experimental testing and model validation work. - Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident
Preferred Requirements- Masters or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related degree - 2-5 years' experience in loads and dynamics engineering - Experience with FEA and/or multibody dynamics tools (e.g., NASTRAN, Matlab/Simulink, ADAMS, LS-DYNA, ANSYS) - Track record of developing aeroelastic analysis for different aircraft configurations in multiple phases of development - Proficiency with programming (Python preferred) - Experience with aircraft certification guidelines (FAA, Mil-Spec, EASA) and deriving load cases and aeroelastic requirements from them, including experimental and prototype program work. - Experience with CAD (e.g., CATIA, NX) - Experience with loads and flutter testing to validate models and results. - Experience in validation of analysis results against other sources, such as testing
Physical Requirements- Must be able to support some travel
