Job Summary
Hanover Bank is looking for a full-time Loan Collections Specialist. This is a non-exempt position, reporting to the Senior Loan Administration Officer. The Loan Collections Specialist will be responsible for managing payments for borrower's accounts when past due, loans in bankruptcy, non-accrual loans, and charged-off loans. Monitoring outstanding payments and collecting payments in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a results-driven approach.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
* Place calls to and receive calls from past due commercial and residential accounts while building a positive relationship with the borrower.
* Collect payments through customer calls and related correspondence using a high degree of professionalism and persuasiveness.
* Assist borrowers in bringing their accounts current, and post transactions to borrowers' accounts from DDA or ACH.
* Generate and respond to written correspondence (letters, e-mails, etc.) in a professional and compliant manner.
* Respond to all inquiries, redirecting when necessary.
* Provide required disclosures.
* Maintain accurate documentation reflective of the conversation and subsequent arrangement reached with the borrower.
* Make recommendations for the next steps when accounts become un-performing or unresponsive.
* Manage monthly delinquency reporting.
* Knowledge of non-accrual loans and charge-off transactions.
* Understand bankruptcy changes and monitoring.
* Resolve billing discrepancies or disputes by investigating the issue.
* Continuously identify and assist in implementing process improvements to enhance collections efficiency and effectiveness.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including loan officers, portfolio managers, and workout officers to ensure accurate and efficient resolution of customer issues and to achieve faster collection results.
* Provide timely and professional responses to customer inquiries regarding payments and account status.
* This is a team-based role and may assist in supporting the team in other aspects
Education and Experience
* College degree or equivalent work experience in collections.
* Minimum of 5 years of prior collections experience is required, preferably in a commercial collection environment, but consideration will be given to an applicant with large ticket consumer collection experience.
Skills and Abilities
* Bilingual strongly preferably Mandarin or Chinese.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office environment, including Word, Excel, etc.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* A high degree of professionalism.
* Attention to detail.
* Ambitious, goal-oriented, and self-motivated.
* Knowledge of SBA 7a and 504 collections is a plus.
* Promote a teamwork environment and actively participate as a team player with the ability to solve problems independently.
* Communicate effectively and constructively with attorneys, underwriters, brokers, portfolio managers, and borrowers effectively to enable the loans to close efficiently.

Hourly Wage: $24.00 - $28.00; placement within this range will vary based on experience and skill level.
Location: This role can work in either our Mineola or Hauppauge location.
