JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:LOCA technician will support performing design basis safety analysis for nuclear reactors, in particular for Loss of Coolant Accidents (LOCA).Additional Responsibilities:
- Development and assessment of models for prediction of two-phase flow and heat transfer phenomena
- Cognizance of plant specific licensing basis, Analysis of Record, 50.46 reporting
- Point of contact for plant-specific LOCA specific inquiries from both internal and external customers
- Database maintenance and monitoring
- Participation on project teams
- Communicate to responsible project manager nature and status of work projects
SPECIFIC DESIRED SKILLS: - Ability to apply fundamental technical principles and follow guidance documents
- Concise and effective written and verbal skills
- Ability to independently establish and implement personal goals and action plans
- Interest in software programming and code development, while not required, is considered a benefit
Minimum Education Requirements: - High school graduate or equivalent plus Associates degree or 60 college credits in an Engineering curriculum.
- The college curriculum must include 2 courses in each of the following: physics and math.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:No amount of experience will be permitted to substitute for the required education in a LOCA Technician. However, recognized technical programs will be permitted to substitute for the required formal education. Some examples of acceptable technical programs would be the Naval Nuclear or other military programs.
