Histology TechnicianRichmond, VASchedule Full-time • Nights (No Weekends)Job Summary:Perform histology and cytology procedures including specimen processing/fixation, cell block preparation, embedding, microtomy, slide preparation, routine stains, IHC and special stains, case organization in accordance with department procedures.Assure positive sample, block and slide identificationPrepare and maintains reagents for routine stains and histology procedures.Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and instrumentation per manufacturer & department procedures and per department schedule.Adhere to department policy with regards to performance and documentation of quality control and quality assurance for instrumentation, equipment and procedures performed.Utilize independent judgement and problem solving skills to ensure the accuracy of procedures performed and proper equipment performance. Troubleshoots to and takes appropriate corrective action to resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely manner for resolution.Adhere to department policy with regards to performance and documentation of quality control and quality assurance for instrumentation, equipment and procedures performed.Job Qualifications:A 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree in Medical TechnologyMore than one year of experience in Histology.1-3 years of experience in a high volume histology setting is requiredMUST BE A CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN FOR THIS ROLE
