Hours: 1045p-915a, with Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights off.Length of Assignment: Up to 2 years.Summary of Need:As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will care for people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, such as Down syndrome and Cerebral palsy. You would be involved in the treatment of people with developmental disabilities under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN).Job duties include, but are not limited to:Administer medications and injections.Perform tube feedings.Hang IVsCollect blood samples, if certified for venipuncture.Provide colostomy care.Observe patients and report changes in their condition.Take and record temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure.Obtain specimens for analysis and perform other medical procedures as ordered by a physician.Prepare and apply simple dressings.Bathe and feed; and care for people and their homes by performing such tasks as making beds, changing linen, lifting and moving people and caring for their personal effects.Qualifications:Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State.At least 1-year current experience working in long-term care or hospital setting. The ideal candidate will have experience working with the developmentally disabled patients.Highly motivated, independent thinker and self-starter.Enthusiastic team player.Excellent organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills.Able to manage multiple projects. Strong follow-up and communication skills.Excellent computer skills. (Word processing, office scheduling, familiar with Windows).
