Compensation : $61 - $61 Hourly Client Job Ref ID : ASC-12587|AH-HHC-48871 Start Date : 09/10/2023 End Date : 12/16/2023 Department: Surgery Recovery Holding Shift Timings: 11:00 - 23:00 Roles & Responsibilities
  • Monitoring post-operative patients' levels of consciousness during recovery from anesthesia.
  • Measuring and recording patients' vital signs.
  • Closely observing patients for signs of side effects of anethesia medication.
  • Treating pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms of anesthesia.
  • Updating charts, patient files, and medical records.
  • Collaborating with the medical team on post-operative patient care and facilitating timely specialized interventions.
  • Providing comfort and reassurance to distressed post-operative patients and concerned family members.
  • Educating patients and their families on post-surgery care, as well as answering questions.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Hospital units: PACU Unit descriptions : post anesthesia recovery unit
  • Nurse to patient ratios 1:2 depending on acuity 1:1 for kids and ICU
  • Patient population : all age, all surgical cases
  • # beds per unit: 20
  • Other staff/resources on the unit: unit secretary, PCT x 2
  • Certifications required per unit: ACLS, PALS
  • Operating room: case type, # cases per day/year 30-60 per day
QUALIFICATIONS
  • BLS and ACLS
  • National Institutes of Health (NIH)
  • Certified Principal Investigator (CPI) Certification
  • Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
  • The ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Strong technical skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Passionate about patient care
  • Requires a minimum of two years of current RN PACU experience.
  • Graduate from a fully accredited RN program
  • Active unencumbered RN New York state license
  • One year of Epic experience

  • A can-do, team oriented attitude is essential, as the ability to work independently and to interact easily with physicians, other managers and staff throughout the department and hospital.
  • Effective interpersonal/communication, organizational, and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks.
