The manager in training will shadow store leadership for a specified period of time in training for a store manager, assistant store manager, or salaried department manager role. This position will assist store leadership in effectively leading, managing and developing store and/or department operations and associates to maximize sales and profitability. This role will assist store leadership in fostering a diverse and inclusive shopping and work experience to become the neighborhood grocer that people shop the most.
Qualifications:
Minimum
- Must be 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- Minimum of three (3) years of proven leadership with managing teams.
- Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently.
- Ability to understand and follow English instructions.
- Authorization to work in the United States or the ability to obtain the same.
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check.
Preferred
- Bachelors degree in business or related field; or equivalent experience.
- At least two (2) years proven leadership in a supermarket.
- Proficient with computer applications used in effectively operating the department.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal, motivational and communication skills.
- Compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Possession of Food Safety Certification or the ability to obtain same within 180 days of placement.
- Ability to travel up to 30%.
Job Tag:
- Shadow and assist store leadership in the following responsibilities:
- Achieve operational goals (i.e. customer service, compliance, inventory): OSAT, Retail Success Audit, Fresh Check Audit, Sales to Purchase Ratio.
- Maintain a safe, compliant and operationally sound store: state and federal inspections, store and parking lot appearance.
- Lead, teach and coach a diverse team: recruit, hire, develop and retain a talented team, department work schedules.
- Achieve financial goals (i.e. sales, gross profit, EBITDA): P&L, cash controls, notify management of associate theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized mark-downs, property defacement or any action that is illegal and/or against company policy.
- Develop and maintain a positive image in the community: community outreach and in-store events.
- Merchandise store to meet customer expectations: sales plan, in stock position, CGO processes.
- Manage the fiscal budget, in-stock, inventory, shrink, expenses including labor and supply management and cash control with a high level of integrity, urgency and responsibility and within the best interests of the organization.
