Job Summary

The Access Controls & Security Systems unit is responsible for providing technical support in the installation, repair, and maintenance of locks and security systems to Facilities Services teams, Medical Center and the University at large. Under the general direction of the Locksmith Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for: door preparation, installation of locks, exit devices, door closers, electronic hardware and associated devices, repairing, and providing preventative maintenance to doors, locks, exit devices and key fabrication.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $54.18 - $54.18 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description

The UCSF Facilities Services Department (FS) is committed to creating an exceptional campus physical environment to support the research, teaching, health care and community service mission of the University. Required Qualifications
  • High school graduate
  • Two (2) years of experience at the operational level in an appropriate craft
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with campus departments at all levels, contractors and design consultants; ability to effectively interact with a diverse professional staff both independently and as a team member in a busy environment
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic calculations and reports
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and door schedules
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated theoretical and working knowledge of locking devices, master key systems
  • Demonstrated ability to understand written and oral instructions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access)
  • Working knowledge of applicable building and safety codes
  • Able to analyze problems, determine solutions, and make decisions based on analysis
  • Background check, and physical health clearance required
Preferred Qualifications
  • University and/or Medical Center experience
  • Demonstrated experience with electronic key system management (such as Keywatcher, Videx, Schlage SMS, or similar systems.)
