Position Overview:
Seeking a Locum Gastroenterologist for inpatient coverage and elective scoping. The position requires coverage of 1-2 weeks per month, starting in February 2025, with flexible scheduling. The locum will be expected to perform a combination of elective and urgent/emergent inpatient procedures, as well as providing consultative care for hospitalized patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inpatient Coverage: Provide medical care for hospitalized patients, including 10-15 inpatient consults daily.
- Elective and Urgent Procedures: Perform endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures (approx. 40 procedures per week).
- On-call Coverage: Be available for 24-hour call coverage on scheduled days (flexible scheduling options, including Monday-Thursday for procedures and Friday-Sunday for call coverage).
- Rounding: Rounding on inpatient consults, providing care, and coordinating with nursing and support staff.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other physicians, nurse practitioners, and advanced practice providers (APPs).
Shift Details:
- Schedule: 0730 to 1700 (variable inpatient and elective procedure time), with potential to take 24-hour call a few days a week.
- Call Coverage: Required for on-call coverage during weekends (Friday-Sunday) and potentially a few weekdays.
- Anticipated Procedures: Combination of elective and urgent/emergent inpatient procedures (40 procedures per week).
- Work Environment: Hospital inpatient setting, with support from a nurse practitioner and advanced practice providers (APPs).
Qualifications:
- Specialty: Gastroenterology (Internal Medicine subspecialty)
- Board Certification: Required (Board-Certified or Board-Eligible)
- Fellowship: Required in Gastroenterology
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Experience: Required gastroenterology experience, with proficiency in performing endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures.
