General Job Responsibilities:
- Perform gross and microscopic examinations of tissue samples, blood and other bodily fluids to diagnose diseases and conditions.

Minimum Education Requirements:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Residency training program in pathology by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
License & Certifications:
- Board certification in pathology by the American Board of Pathology (ABP) or the American Osteopathic Board of Pathology (AOBP).
- Active and unrestricted medical license in Texas.
- Additional certifications in subspecialties such as cytopathology, hematopathology or forensic pathology may be required or preferred.
Experience:
- While specific requirements may vary, most locum pathologist positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience providing care in a clinical setting.
